Lori Colvin - PLC Resource Specialist

Aristotle wrote that ".....It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it."  In Lori's 37 years in education, she has challenged students to question, to think critically, and to always be open to new learning.  She received an Associate Arts degree from Columbia College, her B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri in Columbia, and an M.S. in Education from Northwest Missouri State University.

Lori taught 31 1/2 years at Lathrop Elementary.  When Lathrop Elementary became affiliated with the Accelerated Schools process, she served as the coordinator for the program.  As a classroom teacher, she was able to participate in the Missouri STARR program.  Lori is currently working with the NW RPDC in Maryville.  She is a Leadership Academy "graduate" and recognizes the program for giving her tools for working with schools as well as growing her own leadership skills.

In her role as a facilitator for the Missouri Professional Learning Communities Project, she is able to assist others in making connections between shared leadership and the continuous improvement cycle by focusing on learning, building a collaborative culture, and focusing on results.  Among Lori's strengths are working with teachers on using effective instructional strategies as well as implementing writing processes in all content areas.  Lori is a certified trainer for Decision Making for Results as well as Data Teams.

Steve Johnson - PLC Resource Specialist

Steve is in his 40th year in education.  He has a B.S. degree from Missouri Western State University and MSED and EDS degrees in administrative leadership from Northwest Missouri State University.  Steve was a classroom teacher for two years before becoming a building principal at Mid-Buchanan.  He served as a 7-12 principal for 28 years at Mid-Buchanan.  As a building principal he served on the Board of Directors for MASSP and was twice selected as Northwest District Principal of the year.

After leaving the principalship, he joined the Northwest RPDC as a project assistant.  During his tenure with the RPDC he has worked with teacher and principal mentoring and currently serves as the AMP coordinator for the Northwest Region.  He has also been a facilitator for the Leadership Academy for 9 years and has expertise in administrative leadership.  In his current role as a facilitator for the Missouri Professional Learning Communities Project he is able to assist others in making connections between effective leadership and the cycle of continuous improvement in a collaborative environment, reminding us of a quote from Howard Schultz, "Victory is much more meaningful when it comes not from just one person but from the joint achievements of many."
