Aristotle wrote that ".....It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." In Lori's 37 years in education, she has challenged students to question, to think critically, and to always be open to new learning. She received an Associate Arts degree from Columbia College, her B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri in Columbia, and an M.S. in Education from Northwest Missouri State University.
Lori taught 31 1/2 years at Lathrop Elementary. When Lathrop Elementary became affiliated with the Accelerated Schools process, she served as the coordinator for the program. As a classroom teacher, she was able to participate in the Missouri STARR program. Lori is currently working with the NW RPDC in Maryville. She is a Leadership Academy "graduate" and recognizes the program for giving her tools for working with schools as well as growing her own leadership skills.
In her role as a facilitator for the Missouri Professional Learning Communities Project, she is able to assist others in making connections between shared leadership and the continuous improvement cycle by focusing on learning, building a collaborative culture, and focusing on results. Among Lori's strengths are working with teachers on using effective instructional strategies as well as implementing writing processes in all content areas. Lori is a certified trainer for Decision Making for Results as well as Data Teams.
